AMD Unveils Ryzen Pro 8000 Processors, Bringing AI to Laptops and Desktops

AMD Ryzen Pro 8040
Like the Ryzen Pro 8000, the Ryzen Pro 8040 processor line also uses Zen 4 architecture with a 4 nm manufacturing process and consists of 8 models. However, their TDP levels are lower.
The Ryzen Pro 8040 processor models are divided into two based on their TDP levels. First, the U Series processors with a 15-28 watt TDP for laptops, consisting of Ryzen 7 Pro 8840U, Ryzen 5 Pro 8640Y, and Ryzen 5 Pro 8540U.
Second, the HS Series processors with a 20-28 watt and 35-54 watt TDP for mobile workstations, consisting of Ryzen 9 Pro 8945HS, Ryzen 7 Pro 8845HS, Ryzen 7 Pro 8840HS, Ryzen 5 Pro 8645HS, and Ryzen 5 Pro 8640HS.
Except for the lowest model Ryzen 5 Pro 8540U, all AMD Ryzen Pro 8040 series mobile processors are equipped with an NPU for AI processing. The full model details can be seen in the table below.
Just like the Ryzen Pro 8000, according to information on the AMD website, the Ryzen Pro 8040 processor line is expected to be available in OEM AMD products such as HP and Lenovo starting in the second quarter of 2024.
