Predictions, team news, and likely lineups for Leicester City versus Crystal Palace.

On Saturday at noon, when they host Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City will attempt to climb out of the bottom of the Premier League.

After nine matches this season, the Foxes are three points behind safety, while the Eagles are five points ahead and in 15th position.

Leicester vs. Crystal Palace: Game Statistics and Match preview

Leicester supporters had hoped that their team’s 4-0 home victory against Nottingham Forest would serve as a springboard for a much-needed strong run of form in order to climb the table, but they were unable to capture consecutive victories as they fell 2-1 to Bournemouth on the road last weekend.

At the Vitality Stadium, Patson Daka gave the Foxes the lead in the tenth minute, but Philip Billing and Ryan Christie scored twice in the space of three second-half minutes to turn the game on its head and increase the pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers.

The club had to refund all birthday announcements for Saturday’s game after receiving requests such as ‘Zak Rodgers’ and ‘Brenda Nout’ for the Northern Irish manager.

Only Aston Villa and Southampton (both five) have lost more matches after scoring first in a single Premier League season than Leicester, who have already lost four games while scoring first. Since the beginning of last season, no team has lost more points from winning positions in the Premier League than Leicester (35).

Three of Leicester’s next four Premier League matches will be played at the King Power Stadium, where they have earned all four of their points so far this season. This bodes well for the Foxes, who are currently at the foot of the table and trail safety by three points.

Additionally, Leicester have won each of their previous three home league games against Crystal Palace, including last season’s 2-1 success, so there is reason for hope on Saturday.

Crystal Palace stopped a four-game Premier League losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Leeds United at Selhurst Park last weekend.

After the visitors took the lead on a header by Pascal Struijk, Odsonne Edouard equalized for the Eagles before Eberechi Eze scored the game-winning goal in the final 15 minutes to assist Patrick Vieira’s team earn their second league victory of the season.

Having already faced four of the so-called top-six clubs this season and failing to win on each occasion, Vieira will not be overly concerned with his team’s current position in the table. However, an upturn in form is now expected by both the French manager and the Palace fans with a favorable set of upcoming matches until mid-November, when the Premier League is suspended for the World Cup.

Palace are unbeaten in their previous 12 Premier League matches against clubs that began the day in the relegation zone, but their form against Leicester since a 4-1 away triumph in February 2019 leaves more to be desired.

Wilfried Zaha has scored (seven) and been directly involved in (nine) more Premier League goals against Leicester than any other opponent.

Team News

Timothy Castagne suffered an eye socket injury in Leicester’s loss to Bournemouth; as a result, Rodgers may be obliged to make at least one substitution, with James Justin moving to right-back and Luke Thomas returning to the starting lineup at left-back.

Nampalys Mendy is also questionable to play due to a knee injury, while Wilfred Ndidi (thigh), Ricardo Pereira (Achilles), and Ryan Bertrand (knee) remain out.

After being benched last week, Jamie Vardy will strive to start ahead of Daka in attack, while in-form playmaker James Maddison will stay on the right wing and Harvey Barnes will operate on the opposite flank.

Nathaniel Clyne (ankle), James McArthur (groin), Jack Butland (wrist), Nathan Ferguson (foot), and Chris Richards (leg) are all injured and unavailable for Crystal Palace.

Vieira is unlikely to make many alterations to the team that defeated Leeds last Saturday, therefore Jeffrey Schlupp could keep his left-back position over Tyrick Mitchell.

Eze, Cheick Doucoure, and Michael Olise are expected to continue in central midfield, while Jordan Ayew, Edouard, and Zaha are likely to retain their starting positions in attack, but Jean-Philippe Mateta will be pushing for a spot.
