2022 Hyundai i30 Sedan N, Ultimate Version Of The Elantra

-

Not long after the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N went on sale in the United States, the sporty sedan made its way to Australia, where it is known as the i30 Sedan N.

The latest addition to Hyundai’s growing N lineup is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 276 horsepower (206 kW) and 289 pound-feet (392 Nm) of torque. This engine is shared with the i30 N hatchback and Kona N crossover and is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

As with other N models, the dual-clutch i30 Sedan Ns feature Hyundai’s N Grin Shift, N Power Shift, and N Track Sense Shift functions. Additionally, the gearbox features a ‘Creep Off’ function that simulates the sensation of a traditional torque converter at low speeds. The pavement is supplied with power via an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.

Hyundai i30 Sedan N models sold in Australia have unique suspension tuning for the Normal and Sport modes to accommodate local road conditions, while the electronically controlled suspension in N mode remains unchanged from the rest of the world. All models sold in Australia come standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 245/19.

Hyundai’s SmartSense suite includes a number of critical safety features as standard. These features include Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, and Safe Exit Warning.

Australian buyers can choose from Polar White, Cyber Grey, Fluid Metal, Phantom Black, Performance Blue, Fiery Red, or Intense Blue for the i30 Sedan N. The car will only be available in the premium Premium trim level, with the only options being a AU$495 ($352) metallic paint and a AU$2,000 ($1,422) sunroof.

The i30 Sedan N is priced locally starting at AU$49,000 ($34,849) before on-road costs, which equates to AU$54,130 ($38,498) driveaway. To put that price in context, an i30 N Premium hatchback starts at AU$47,500 ($33,782) and goes up to AU$52,799 ($37,551) with on-road costs, while the Kona N Premium starts at AU$50,500 ($35,916) and goes up to $56,194 ($39,966) with on-road costs.
