Lotus has unveiled the Emeya, its new flagship hyper-GT car. This is an all-electric four-door sedan positioned against models like the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air, and other cars in this category. It marks Lotus’ first four-door sedan since the 1990s Carlton.
The car features active aerodynamics, with its active diffuser inspired by motorsport. It’s based on the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA), a variation of Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform.
Its two electric motors, one on each axle, deliver 918 horsepower (675 kW) with 986 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and has a top speed of 256 km/h.
The car is equipped with a 102 kWh battery that supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW. This means it gains 150 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging and charges from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. Lotus hasn’t announced the exact range yet, but it’s estimated to be around 500 kilometers.
It features a 2-speed transmission, and regarding chassis technology, the adjustable air suspension can analyze the road 1,000 times per second.
The Emeya incorporates LiDAR sensors, and inside, instead of a traditional instrument cluster, there’s a thin screen behind the steering wheel that continues visually to the passenger side.
Prominently positioned in the center of the dashboard is the 15.1-inch infotainment screen. Furthermore, the Emeya is equipped with a 55-inch head-up display with augmented reality. The central console includes wireless smartphone charging, two cupholders, and various switches.
Lotus will provide more details about the Emeya sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, with production starting in 2024 at the company’s factory in Wuhan, China, where the Eletre is already being manufactured.
