Russia: The top Russian admiral, presumed dead, “appeared in a teleconference.”

Video footage of the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, participating in a video conference was released by the Russian Ministry of Defense. This comes one day after Ukrainian special forces claimed to have killed him.

In a photo released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sokolov appeared to be taking part in a video conference with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and other high-ranking naval and army officers.

Ukrainian special forces had claimed on Monday that they killed Sokolov, along with 33 other officers, with a missile strike last week at the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the port of Sevastopol.

Earlier today, the Kremlin stated that there was no information regarding the Ukrainian claims of Sokolov’s death. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, said, “There is no information on this matter from the Ministry of Defense.”
