Owners of the Volkswagen ID.4 have reported their vehicles making “spaceship” sounds during software updates. According to the company, this happens because, during the installation of new software, the central unit loses communication with the CAN-Bus system and speed sensors. This unintended result activates the system that reproduces external sounds when the car is traveling at speeds exceeding 30 km/h.
VW is actively working on a new software update to fix this issue, but at the moment, there is no specific timeline available for when the update will be ready.
