On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Jetta GLI, Volkswagen has announced the arrival of a very special edition called the Volkswagen Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition. It will be available exclusively in the North American market.
VW is celebrating this significant milestone by presenting a new interpretation of the Jetta GLI, described as a “GTI with a trunk.” The special edition features a distinctive aesthetic with exterior color options in Pure White, Pure Gray, or Rising Blue, adorned with black details such as the exterior mirror caps and door handles.
In addition to these, it includes a black grille, black spoiler, and 18-inch black alloy wheels, enriched with red accents and special badges.
The interior of the new Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition is equally noteworthy. Seats covered in a unique textured fabric feature contrasting red stitching and unique center sections with a grid pattern. Exclusive interior details include cupholders with GLI and 1984 accents, a 40 badge on the steering wheel, and the unmistakable GLI 40 logo on the red seat tag and door sill plates.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition hides a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 231 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque. Its features include adaptive dampers, a limited-slip differential, and a sporty exhaust system.
The new celebratory model will be available in only 1984 units in the United States. Production has already begun, and the first deliveries will take place this summer. The starting price is $28,085 (€25,386).
