International operation to dismantle the malicious software platform Qakbot

The U.S. authorities announced an international operation against the notorious “Qakbot” malicious software platform, which is widely used by cybercriminals involved in financial crimes. The malicious software “Qakbot” has infected over 700,000 computers and has caused significant damage worth hundreds of millions of dollars to businesses, healthcare providers, and government services worldwide.

The operation against “Qakbot” was conducted by U.S. authorities, with the participation of authorities from France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. “Qakbot” is known to be typically distributed through spam emails sent to unsuspecting victims.

Security researchers suspect that the electronic intrusion network used by “Qakbot” originates from Russia and has targeted organizations in various countries around the world, including Germany and Argentina.
