A firefighter in Pontiac, Michigan is in the hospital with a broken neck but no paralysis after falling during a fire in a two story structure.
The firefighter fell about 16 feet through a hole into a basement as firefighters were working to bring the blaze under control. Fire was in the walls and traveling vertically when a stairwell collapsed. Those firefighters extricated themselves and warned of a hole leading to the basement. Just as they did a firefighter fell through.
A mayday was sounded and crews removed the firefighter from the basement to an awaiting EMS unit. The injured firefighter is facing non-life threatening injuries.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured Pontiac, Michigan FF for a qucik recovery and return to work.
