Brockton Fire Chief Ken Galligan is worried about his department. Already down 27 positions the department just lost 20 additional firefighters as part of the budget process.
The chief worries about the safety of firefighters as well as citizens. He is also reportedly worried about the insurance ratings as well.
The loss of positions means the possible closing of an engine and truck company.

This is a problem that has no easy solution. You caanot maintain an acceptable level of fire protection (in my opinion) while reducing the number of your personnel. The Mayors can sugar coat it all that they please, but their logic is faulty. And the citizens and the brothers pay for it in the end !
