Boston Ladder 26 Struck Building Last Year

The ladder truck involved in a fatal accident struck another building on the same street last year. Ladder 26, 1995 E-One, struck a building in 2008 and the cause was cited as brake failure according to reports. In December a car struck the ladder truck.

Boston officials are starting a board of inquiry into the fatal accident on January 9th that killed Kevin Kelley. Boston's bravest are mourning his loss along with the Kelley family and friends across the country.

Mayor Thomas Menino has been a fire department adversary for over a year. His unwillingness to budge on critical issues has frustrated Jakes. The fire commissioner, never a line firefighter but instead a former Navy Commander, appears out of touch.

The tragic death of such a respected member of the department is the primary focus of the fire service. This year, of the four Line of Duty Deaths nationwide, three have been from motor vehicle accidents.
