Firefighter PPE Remains Source Of Frustration

Fire departments spend a good deal of their budgets keeping firefighters protected. A constant question expressed by the fire service is who provides the best gear?

The most expensive doesn't mean the best nor does high gloss advertising. The business of keeping firefighters safe is just that-a business. Slick marketing may draw a department in but the cost in the long run in injuries or liability makes it imperative for departments to research their choices.

Questionable junk science is one area where departments have to stay cautious. If a demonstration is given knocking another  product ask for the results of comparitive tests. Don't settle for the paperwork alone. Find out who did the study and give them a call. It takes a half hour of research to cut through the fog of marketing.
