Charleston Chief Search Not Leakproof

Despite an article appearing today in the Post & Courier the search for the new Charleston chief is hardly leak proof. In fact, of fire chief searches in the past five years around the country Charleston's is remarkably open. This is due to candidates sounding out other people on the real situation on the ground.

What is expected is a very sound chief to emerge from the pack. While most people have been concentrating on assistant and deputy chief officers the focus should be on other Fire Chiefs who already have experience in the top position. This doesn't rule out a lower ranking officer.

We will likely announce the choice prior to the mayor presenting the new chief. This will allow for some in-depth analysis.
