Jay and my brother city firefightes,
I have not forgotten about you and think all the time about your department and hope that all of you are doing ok. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better or help take away the pain. To hear the greif in your voice and to think what the firefighters are going through breaks my heart. I am very proud of the dedication that the brothers have shown with the city to keep your heads so high all the while the department is suffering and the abuse of scutiny that you have all been exposed to. Stay strong, stay toghter and stay safe.
As many local firefighters I have my C9 sticker on my helmet, even though there may be distance between us I will always think of the honor and pride that the department has and will always keep all of you in my prayers. May God comfort you all with unconditional love and keep all of us safe. Good bless you all.

Can we do things right just once? unprecedented release of the NIOSH report and now the early release of the Routley report before firefighters are allowed to review it! Can't we just show a little respect! The firefighters of Charleston deserve at least that much!

Jay,
Great job holding it together in that podcast.I've never met you,but you gotta be one hell of a guy.My thoughts and prayers to everyone effected by the report.
However isn't it kinda poetic justice that the report Mr.Riley talked so much about and threw so much money at made him look so GUILTY.Not to mention the number of times he stretched the truth or disagreed with facts.Lets see him discredit his own hand picked panel now.He will really be the "Village Idiot" then. The rest of the CFD Command staff should probably go,but Mayor Riley needs to be driving their bus when it leaves Charleston.Ultimately he helped create the monster, helped keep it going, and then worst of all attempted to cover it up.I'm sorry, just calling it like I see it.

Substrate
Get with the program,
All you guys wanted it released, now it has been and your still complaining.....

What the heck....

well said.....

Zat your signature on the fire inspection report from 1998? How ironic.

Jay;

Although I haven't seen the report yet
it sounds as though its as thorough a document that can be produced.

Sounds as though it "took your breath away" after reading those sections.

Its never easy reading a NIOSH Report or one of the other LODD Reports, because in order to learn from them you have to place yourself mentally in their position for a moment and consider the situation they faced and how could you have possibly mitigated or changed what the final out come was.

From just what little you read, it places in black and white, in one location all that has been written in the Charleston
P&C, FF Hourly, Fire Service Trade Publications about what went so terribly wrong at the SSS Fire.

Now is the time for everyone in the CFD and the surrounding Fire deaprtments to pull together, drop the individuality, and
really learn from this Report.

Then seriously adopt and implement the Phase III Report Recommendations.

Hey Jay did his job if you read the document...Can the same be said about RT and some of the CFD command structure? NO !!!
